Series

As a photographer, writer, and runner, I've had the privilege of combining my passions in the following series. In this work, I shot with a disposable 35mm film camera while running. I layered my own poetry on these photos to further discuss the heavy emotions and impactful life lessons that the runs opened my eyes to. In the Long Run

This work was part of my senior showcase, the grand finale to my time at SCAD. The series discussed running-related topics like timing and distance and how they are woven into everyday life. Even though the themes are universal in nature, I expressed my personal thoughts on them while thinking about my place in life as a graduating college student entering an unknown world. The overwhelming pressure and fear of leaving my friends and home of the past four years came out in this project through abstract depictions of my runs.

The New York City Marathon Through A Runner's Eyes

On November 3rd, 2024, I crossed off one of the biggest items off my bucket list and ran the New York City Marathon. Running and art are my main forms of expression and stress-relief so I loved being able to combine them for this project.

I could talk about this race forever but I'll try to let my work do most of the heavy lifting here. Of course, running 26.2 miles is really hard. But 50,000 people were lucky enough to do it together in one of the greatest cities in the world. Pushing past the uncomfortable is one of the most difficult and beautiful things that running can offer. Every lesson we learn while running can translate into our everyday lives. Don't get me started on the unreal support from the city, friends, and families that made it all the more possible to cross the finish line.

I'm so thankful for the opportunity to run this race and capture it through my lens. Here's to many more miles.

I'm in no rush!

The Savannah Bridge Run definitely tested me physically and mentally more than I expected. But anytime I get the chance to run is a gift. I coupled these film photos with a poem I wrote about the passage of time (because everything is and isn't related to running in my life these days).
